How to Reset a Forgotten Password

Last Edited on

NJSTART is configured to lock an account for security after multiple failed login attempts. The account remains locked for several minutes, preventing any new sign-on attempts. However, the process to reset a forgotten password can be taken immediately. Before logging in with the new temporary password, however, the account lock must be removed (either by waiting for it to be automatically removed or by contacting an Org Admin or Support).

  1. Access the Home Page.
  2. Select Sign In from the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Select Login Assistance below the Login Id and Password fields.

  4. Select Forgot Password from the available drop down list.

  5. Enter in the Login ID and Email Address on file and select Continue.

  6. Confirm your Login Question and write in the Login Answer and select Continue.

  7. Select Continue to receive a temporary password to the email on file.

  8. Copy the temporary password from the email and, after waiting 30 minutes for the lock to expire, login again to NJSTART.

  9. Once entered, NJSTART will prompt you to set a new password. It cannot be a previous password you have already used and must contain all of the following:
    • 10-11 characters long
    • At least one (1) Uppercase Letter
    • At least one (1) lowercase letter
    • At least one (1) special character
    • At least one (1) number
