What is Periscope Marketplace?

Marketplace is a new component of the NJSTART eProcurement system. It allows vendors to load product/service catalogs consistent with the awarded State Contract in the NJSTART Marketplace. Once catalogs are in place, Cooperative Purchasing Program Participants will be able to use the Marketplace to search for state contracts, shop from them (shopping basket functionality), and generate purchase order that will be transmitted to the Vendor electronically.

Do I have to sign up for Marketplace? How/where do I do that?

No, Marketplace is integrated and does not require a separate log-in for the Vendor.

Do I have to upload my catalog to Marketplace?

Yes, statewide contract catalogs need to be loaded in order for Cooperative Purchasing Program Participants to find the products and services that are awarded on a Vendor’s contract. Periscope’s Supplier Enablement team are available to assist Vendors in this process.

What if my company doesn’t have a catalog?

Many companies may not have a traditional catalog – rather, they provide various services or categories of goods. Periscope’s supplier enablement team can work with you to determine the best way to develop and load a descriptive list of what you sell through your State cooperative contract. The bottom line is that we will help you load data so that local and state shoppers can find what you sell through your contract. Contact our supplier enablement team at suppliers-NJBUYS@periscopeholdings.com and they will help you get started.

My company provides services to the State and Cooperative Purchasing Program Participants. How is a catalog applicable?

Shoppers will be searching Marketplace for both commodities AND services, so we need to load a list of the different services you offer. Your catalog should list those services that are approved under your contract. Some companies may have a rate card for the different services they provide – those companies could list their rate card. Shoppers will find you by searching for keywords that relate to your offerings, and your catalog detail can direct them to contact you to get quotes for the services they are requesting. The bottom line is that we want shoppers to search and find your contract services so they can buy from you.

Who can see my catalog in Marketplace?

Only Cooperative Purchasing Program Participants can view catalogs in NJSTART Marketplace.  Vendors cannot view other Vendors catalogs or related item pricing.

I’m a national vendor and work with many states – can we use Marketplace outside of New Jersey?

While Marketplace is used in other statesfor example, Arkansas and Oregon, a Vendor’s catalog which has been loaded into the NJSTART Marketplace cannot be used for purchasing by non-Cooperative Purchasing Program Participants.

Will vendors be required to develop “punchouts” in the Periscope Marketplace?

No. Vendors will not be required to build punchout sites associated within the Periscope Marketplace. Some Vendors will want to do so and will be supported in that process. Others may simply upload their catalogs, consistent with the awarded State Contract, into Marketplace for searching and shopping.
